Your Class, Your Way

We love to teach at LYS, and we hope we've created the perfect list of class choices for you. But, we know how busy life can be. That’s why we offer "Your Class, Your Way" at Longmont Yarn Shoppe.

Maybe you see the perfect class, but it’s not offered at the right time for you. Or there's a project you’ve always wanted to make, but the class was offered last month and you missed it! Relax.

Gather three friends, speak with a member of our staff, and we’ll work to arrange for a qualified instructor to teach your perfect class, your way!

Private Lessons

Our private lessons are ideal if you prefer to work one-on-one, have a hectic schedule or need a refresher. If you have a specific project you'd like some extra help with, come see us.

$40.00 for a full hour

A note about Class, CLUB, CAL, & KAL materials. We ask that students purchase their yarn for the class or CAL/KAL, Club at LYS for the programs we offer. There are 2 main reasons for this:

  1.   We recommend yarn we know you will have success with. Learning a new skill is much more rewarding using the proper tools and resources. When students use materials other than what is suggested we can't assure your success.
  2.   Frankly, we exist only with your support. We need our community to shop with us so we can be here for the long haul. We bring in additional inventory to support classes, in anticipation of student purchases.

Hear what Anne had to say about her class

"Three friends and I arranged for our own personal felted clog class with Kris at Longmont Yarn Shoppe. It was great for many reasons! First, we were able to get so much personal attention. Kris is a knowledgeable, patient and fun teacher. We are all very pleased with our clogs, and will certainly be scheduling another class—I think socks are next!"

Make it Your Own: Top-Down Set-In Sleeve Sweater Class with Ann Budd VIA ZOOM!

In this six-lesson, eight-week online class, you'll learn how to use the charted instructions in The Knitter's Handy Book of Top-Down Sweaters to knit yourself a set-in sleeve sweater with help from Ann Budd every step of the way. You'll choose between a pullover and cardigan, and between crewneck and V-neck shaping. You?ll also choose the weight of yarn (from fingering to bulky) and the finished size (from 26" to 54" bust/chest circumference). Everyone will follow the same basic instructions, though it's quite possible that no two students will use the same size, gauge, or stitch pattern.

Introduction to Brioche Knitting: Two Color Brioche in the Round via ZOOM

Brioche stitch is a beautiful, ancient knitting stitch with loads of variation. With this technique, alternate stitches are slipped every other row, creating a very soft, stretchy, thick, fluffy fabric. Classic brioche stitch is reversible, with a lovely right side and wrong side. It can be done in 1 color, 2 colors, or 3 or more colors, and has loads of variations and creative possibilities!

Tapestry Weaving with David Johnson VIA ZOOM

In this class students will weave tapestries using plain and soumak techniques lead by instructor David Johnson of Arachne Weaving. Class fee includes loom, warp and weft yarns.
