Proof of Vaccination Required for in person classes & private lessons

With the rise in Covid in Boulder County we have decided for the health of our staff and community to require proof of vaccination for all in person classes and private lessons.  Please provide a copy of your card upon arrival to class.  Rest assured that all staff and teachers at LYS are vaccinated as well.

Thank you for your patience and support as we navigate this pandemic.

Private Lessons

Our private lessons are ideal if you prefer to work one-on-one, have a hectic schedule or need a refresher. If you have a specific project you'd like some extra help with, come see us.

Private Lesson Rates
$35.00 for 45 minutes
$40.00 for a full hour

Call 303-678-8242
or stop by soon to schedule your lesson.

A note about Class, CLUB, CAL, & KAL materials. We ask that students purchase their yarn for the class or CAL/KAL, Club at LYS for the programs we offer. There are 2 main reasons for this:

  1.   We recommend yarn we know you will have success with. Learning a new skill is much more rewarding using the proper tools and resources. When students use materials other than what is suggested we can't assure your success.
  2.   Frankly, we exist only with your support. We need our community to shop with us so we can be here for the long haul. We bring in additional inventory to support classes, in anticipation of student purchases.

Hear what Anne had to say about her class

"Three friends and I arranged for our own personal felted clog class with Kris at Longmont Yarn Shoppe. It was great for many reasons! First, we were able to get so much personal attention. Kris is a knowledgeable, patient and fun teacher. We are all very pleased with our clogs, and will certainly be scheduling another class—I think socks are next!"

Needle Felting Classes

Needle Felting in 3-D (in person)
- Oct 22, 2022 10:00 am

Perhaps you've needle-felted flat embellishment pieces, but haven't tried sculptural work? Needle felting is a great fiber art for creating sculptural pieces. It is a wonderful medium for making everything from toys to jewelry to art. The possibilities are endless! Come join Andee Graves for this fun class on working in 3D with needle felting. Learn everything you need to use your felting needle safely and ergonomically; creating different shapes from loose fiber and joining them together to make an object that can stand up; using a "frame" to create the base of your 3D pieces; making both "hard" and "soft" felt; and embellishing your sculpture with yarn, beads, and fabric.

Cost: $ 70.00
Come learn how to create these adorable compact angels that can be jewelry, toys or little ornaments. They are perfect for using up bits of wool yarn and loose fiber from other needle felting projects. In three hours you will be confident with using a variety of needle felting sculptural techniques to create dense long-lasting tiny felted angels.

Cost: $ 60.00

CANCELED - Learn to Weave on an Inkle Loom

Inkle Weaving is a fun way to learn about weaving without the investment of expensive equipment to start out. An Inkle loom is a portable belt loom that can be warped up in an afternoon and woven in 3-4 hours. Inkle bands can be used to make belts, straps, bookmarks, ornaments and more. You will learn to warp your loom and read patterns so you can re-warp a loom on your own. Students may bring your own loom or rent a loom from the instructor.
