Spinning 101

Put your hands on a spindle and feel the fiber being turned into yarn.  This class will begin with a discussion on fiber and a basic lesson on using a spindle.  You will take the spindle and some fiber home to practice.  In the 2nd lesson we will check in on our techniques and evaluate our yarn.  This lesson will include instruction on plying on a spindle.  You will have another week to practice and then you will try out a spinning wheel.  Look at all the wonderful yarn we have spun!

Materials Required for class-approximately 4 oz of roving, we recommend using Wabi Sabi Farm Alpaca roving or Sweet Georgia Polwarth + Silk roving!

Skill Level: beginner
Skill Details: Beginner - no previous experience needed.
Requirements: Bring a pen and paper or tablet for notes. Only if you already have any of these, bring these: Spindle, Hand Cards, Flat tined dog/cat brush. Homework: Practice being nice to yourself and giving yourself lots of space to learn.
