Double Knitting: A Different Way to Knit with Color!



Double knitting is a cool and fun knitting technique that produces a double layer of stockinette stitch fabric with mirror-image colorwork while knitting both layers at the same time.  Make a TPHPE – The Prettiest Hot Pad Ever in colors of your choice. Maybe in red and green for Christmas gifts or any colors that coordinate with any décor.


Materials List:

Pattern:  Free on Ravelry TPHPE by Heather Zopetti

Yarn: Worsted weight yarn, 1 skein each of two colors. We suggest - Any worsted weight or bulky weight (if you want a bigger pad) yarn such as Berroco Ultra Wool.

Needles & Notions: US6/4mm needles (any kind), darning or tapestry needle, highlighter tape (optional)


Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Advanced Beginner
Requirements: Student should know how to knit, purl, cast on and bind off. Chart reading experience is helpful but not required.
