Introduction to Traditional Rug Hooking



Session 1: Learn the technique of traditional rug hooking using primitive hook and strips of wool fabric. You will learn utilizing color while discovering use of different textures of wool. The Fall Tile project will be 10” x 10” and may be finished as a mat or as a pillow. 
Class fee includes pattern, wool strips, hook, backing to finish.

Session 2: This class will have the student return with their finished hooked project. We will steam the piece and show 2 different ways to finish project. You can learn the technique of Proddy, giving the pillow a primitive fringed edge; or a traditional binding finish using wool yarn. You can decide finishing plans at the first class, and materials costs for the last class will be based on the technique you decide on, payable to the instructor.

Requirements: Plan to work between sessions to hook and sew your mat or pillow so you are ready to learn finishing at session 2. Student should be comfortable with basic hand or machine sewing.
