Fundamentals of Botanical Printing

In this class you will gain an understanding of the principles behind botanical printing: receptivity of fibers/cloth, the mordanting process and why/when it's necessary, modifiers/developers, and tannins and plant selection. Jennifer Guyor, of Wild Lily Fibers, will equip you with the skills you need to create successful bundles and unveil gorgeous textiles printed with natural plant materials.

Each student will learn to sample and make a one-of-a-kind scarf to practice their skills and enjoy for years to come.

Materials needed: Notebook and pen, comfortable shoes and clothes you don't mind staining or an apron. The teacher will provide nitrile gloves. Also if needed bring a water bottle, snacks and/or a snack lunch.
