Make it Your Own: Top-Down Set-In Sleeve Sweater Class with Ann Budd VIA ZOOM!
In this six-lesson, eight-week online class, you’ll learn how to use the charted instructions in The Knitter’s Handy Book of Top-Down Sweaters to knit yourself a set-in sleeve sweater with help from Ann Budd every step of the way. You’ll choose between a pullover and cardigan, and between crewneck and V-neck shaping. You’ll also choose the weight of yarn (from fingering to bulky) and the finished size (from 26” to 54” bust/chest circumference). Everyone will follow the same basic instructions, though it’s quite possible that no two students will use the same size, gauge, or stitch pattern.
In the first lesson Ann will guide you through choosing the correct size, knitting a proper gauge swatch, and how to add a simple stitch pattern. In the following moderated knit-a-long sessions, Ann will demonstrate each of the key steps in knitting a top-down sweater (no seams!) with set-in sleeve shaping (the most tailored fit). In addition to providing tips and tricks and answering questions along the way, Ann will discuss how to make simple modifications, including adjusting sleeve length and adding subtle waist shaping.
By the end of class, you’ll be able to follow (and adapt) any of the 600 charted patterns for four armhole styles (circular yoke, raglan, set-in sleeve, and saddle shoulder) in The Knitter’s Handy Book of Top-Down Sweaters.
Class runs from 9:00 to 11:00 am Mountain Time; (11:00 am to 1:00 pm Eastern Time; 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Central Time; 8:00 to 10:00 am Pacific Time)
Your zoom link will be sent prior to the first class. It will be the same for each class. Each class is recorded with the recording going out within 24 hours of the live class. Students have the link for 1 week to review.
In preparation for class please -
PRINT and Review this letter from Ann Budd found here
- Obtain a copy of The Knitter's Handy Book of Top-Down Sweaters and read the the Introduction on pages 5-17.

Thanks so much for hosting Ann's class. I was hesitant at first, but am so glad that I enrolled. I learned so much on so many different topics. Ann's guidance was more helpful than I can say. The biggest take away from the class is that I am confident that with the help of Ann's book, I can knit any sweater in any pattern in any yarn I want - and that sweater will fit the intended recipient. I'm so excited to start a second sweater.
I took this class and absolutely loved it. Ann is very knowledgeable and has infinite patience. She makes sure questions are answered prior to moving forward so you don’t have to worry about getting left behind

I absolutely loved this class. Ann is such a lovely lady and is so knowledgeable. Ann makes this process so easy and not scary. The best part was that for the first time ever I knit myself a sweater that fits perfectly !!!
