Design a Custom Pleated Skirt with Ann Budd via ZOOM!

Knitted skirts are becoming wardrobe staples and they’re a lot easier to knit than you might think--because they're knitted in the round with very little shaping, they make ideal take-a-long projects. Examples of two of Ann's pleated skirt patterns, Putting on the Pleats and Tavia, are shown below. Her other skirt designs include Take-Two SkirtPutting on the Worsted PleatsVelvety PleatsTraveling Pleats, and Lacy Pleats. These skirts are as comfortable sweat pants, but a whole lot more attractive. Ann wears them in all but the hottest summer weather.

Please note that these are examples of the type of skirt you may knit during class; you will NOT follow the patterns for these or any other published design, though you may incorporate elements that you like. Each student will choose their own yarn (at least two plies and 75% wool are best) in fingering to worsted weight.

In the first of the four online lessons Ann will guide you through knitting a proper gauge swatch and taking proper waist and hip measurements to create a personal pattern for a “pleated” skirt with a perfect fit, no matter your size. In the following sessions, Ann will demonstrate all the steps from casting on, shaping the hips with darts, and adding pleats, to binding off, inserting elastic in the waistband, and blocking. Ann will also be available to answer questions and provide guidance throughout the six-week course via a Ravelry thread hosted by Longmont Yarn Shoppe on our Ravelry page.

This four-session online class is hosted on Zoom from 5:00 to 6:30 pm Mountain Time (7:00 to 8:30 pm Eastern Time; 6:00 to 7:30 pm Central Time; 4:00 to 5:30 pm Pacific Time) on Tuesdays March 8, 22, 29, and April 12. Students will have access to the recorded sessions for seven days following each class.

Your Zoom Link will be sent the day before the first class and will be the same for all 4 sessions.  If you do not see it, please check your spam filter.  THIS CLASS WILL BE RECORDED and the ZOOM link will be available for 1 week to review!
