Knitters Muse: The Power of Inspiration at FIBER FRIDAY with Fiona Ellis via ZOOM

The world is FULL of inspiration - from exotic travels to everyday scenes. Fiona   will talk about her favourite sources of inspiration and how she uses them as a springboard for her knit designs. Looking not only at the initial spark but at underlying themes of rhythm, pattern, balance, repetition, shape, proportion, texture, movement and so on.

Then delving deeper, Fiona will go onto explore the creative process, sharing tips and methods that she has found useful; moving onto how you might jump-start your own unique ideas. This presentation may even change the way you look at the world!

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: for all levels including beginner to experienced knitters.
Instructor: Fiona Ellis
Instructor Bio: Fiona Ellis's career is certainly one about escapism. After pursuing a sensible career in laboratory work for textile production and colour cosmetic formulation, Fiona escaped from career-captivity in the early 1990's to pursue fashion design at De Montfort University. She graduated with a degree specializing in Knitwear Design. Fiona then founded her independent design business, selling designs to major fashion houses in New York, Paris and London. Her contacts in New York helped her to add design for the independent knitter to her repertoire. This led to her published patterns in major print and on-line magazines, and two successful books published by Random House. Along with having classes available on the Craftsy platform, she is now also a qualified yoga instructor. Through her workshops Fiona's aim is to help people escape from the mundane and bring creative design sensibilities to their knitting.
