FIBER FRIDAY Embellishing Your Knitting with Nancy Bates via ZOOM!

Learn how to add that extra dimension to your completed knitting with embellishments such as free style embroidery, French Knots, duplicate stitching, and even buttons or beads. What fun!  It's easier than you think, yet it adds so much.  These are techniques used after your project is complete, not while you are knitting.
Supplies:  Tapestry needle and scraps of various colors of yarn in the same weight as your homework piece. Scissors.  Buttons and beads from your stash
Homework:

You will need a stockinette stitch knitted base to practice on.  I suggest knitting a 10" to 12" stockinette stitch square in worsted weight yarn or heavier.  If you have a hat or other garment you'd like to practice on, that will work too.

Students enrolled in Nancy's class have access to purchase one of her kits from our website. After the December 9th class they will be available to the general public.  CHECK OUT her hat kits here!

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details:
Instructor: Nancy Bates
Instructor Bio: Growing up in a family of 11 in the suburbs of Southern California, Nancy's love of nature and all things fiber arts started at a very young age. Each day could find her climbing trees and exploring the local hills one moment to hand sewing Barbie clothes and making hats the next. Over the years, embroidery, crocheting, costume making, knitting, painting, cross stitching, and weaving were added to the list of beloved hobbies. In college, Nancy sat under the trees between classes knitting sweaters. The love of the outdoors grew as national and state parks became family destinations with her husband and 3 daughters. The idea for Knitting the National Parks began 5 years ago as she was looking at a Joshua Tree and decided "I could knit that into a hat." And she did!
