CANCELED Machine Knit at Poncho! (in person)

Machine knit a lovely poncho – perfect for transitioning through the seasons.  Students will learn:

How to do a gauge swatch
Cast-on and bind-off techniques
No-roll edge treatment for the edges.
Students will also learn how to take work off on waste-yarn and re-hang the work.

Students will practice necessary techniques during class before casting on for their poncho. Poncho can be finished at home or during a future Studio.

Students won't be able to finish their poncho during the 3 hour class.  Students will have the skills to finish on their own at home if they own a machine.

Mid-gauge LK-150 or Brother KH-350’s will be available for use.  Students may (and are encouraged to) use their own machine, but instructors need to be assured the machine is in working condition before the day of class.

Please note in registration what machine you are bringing and reach out to the instructors in advance of class to let them know.  If the student plans on using their own machine, they should bring latch and transfer tools in appropriate gauge.

The included pattern is based loosely on the Churchmouse Easy Folded Poncho, but modified for machine knitting with additional instructions for optional cowl neckline and ideas for modifications

Materials needed: 1200 yards of DK wt yarn - sample shown in photo is Wool Pop & Mohair and the in store sample is made with Nature Spun Sport and Mohair. We don't encourage using 2 strands on your first poncho but it's great for a future poncho.

Additional yarn may be required if students want to modify the size or knit the cowl.

PLEASE ARRIVE TO CLASS WITH YOUR YARN in CAKES or BALLS ready to knit.

Other yarns that would work are: Remix Light by BerrocoCosette by Dream in ColorBamboo Pop by Universal, Arroyo by Malabrigo (this is hand dyed so there needs to be consideration for blending in skeins, Arranmore Light by The Fibre Company and Rowan Felted Tweed Colour

Yarn for the poncho class must be purchased for Longmont Yarn Shoppe. Students can enjoy a 10% discount on class materials. When shopping online use code STUDENT10 to get the 10% discount.
