Machine Knit Garment Skills III: Bands & Finishing

The focus of this series of classes is on techniques and will require homework if the student wants a finished baby cardigan. This class builds upon the first two classes in the series.
This final session will focus on seaming on the machine, neckbands and button/buttonhole bands using the pieces knit previously. Students will be able to finish the cardigan at home.
If students sign up for all 3 sessions of this class series they will be given a 20.00 Gift Card to LYS after the final class.Materials:
Bring all previous calculations, tools and all knit pieces of the cardigan.
Knitting machine in working condition with tools. Students can rent a machine from the instructors for $10 per class, but the machine cannot go home with the students. Please contact instructors to arrange a rental.
Yarn appropriate to machine’s gauge, preferably not 100% cotton. These are techniques that will work with any yarn suitable for the student’s machine. Bamboo Pop is suitable for standard or mid-gauge machines. Any worsted weight yarn would be good for a bulky machine.
Homework:Front and back pieces with finished necklines (from Machine Knit Garment Skills II: Necklines and Basic Shaping). Knit at least one sleeve from calculations
For students who have not taken the previous class, bring a sample of a shaped round front and back neckline with a sloped shoulder. Shoulders should be removed on waste yarn. Also bring at least two swatches approximately 5” by 3” to practice seaming and band application.
Please note in registration what machine you are bringing and reach out to the instructors in advance of class to let them know. If the student plans on using their own machine, they should bring latch and transfer tools in appropriate gauge.
