Scarves, Shawls, Scharves & Ponchinis!
Broaden your knitting horizons and change your life with StevenBe! This workshop is designed to be an amazing opportunity to have fun while learning StevenBe’s best tips and tricks. It will set you free from patterns as written and help you feel comfortable making your own modifications and design decisions. Remember: a pattern is only a guideline!
Start with a base pattern from StevenBe or any of your favorite shawl designers and learn different methods of creating angles and edges, modifying the shape with modular knitting, adding new colors, and combining fibers in unique ways to customize the pattern and truly make it your own!
Learn to super-size smaller knits and play with a variety of yarn weights to create your own custom colors and textures.
What to bring:
An open mind.
Pen, paper and scissors.
StevenBe pattern will be provided as part of class materials fee.
Bring 5 to 7 yarns in a variety of colors, including a fingering weight and a lace weight each in different fibers like mohair and silk to be combined into a heavier weight. Note: Choose a color palette when bringing your stash to make it cohesive but include one color you wouldn’t normally use. More yarns can be added during class. Yarns should be chosen and wound prior to class so we can begin immediately.
A variety of needle sizes from US 6 to US 15 will be needed, so bring a good selection (we recommend an interchangeable set).
Preferred notions including: stitch markers, tapestry needle, tape measure, and scissors.
A work-in-progress or finished project for show and tell (the desire to be admired is not required - but it is recommended!)

StevenBe hasn?t done anything quietly in his entire life (his love for disco style, his Flock of Seagulls inspired hair in the ?80s, his recurring mania for neon). Really, isn?t there a little bit of Steven in all of us? After an eventful career in the fashion industry, his creative work brought him back to his favorite medium, the one that always inspired him the most: the imaginative world of fiber arts. His knitwear designs, chunky creations, and signature multi-stranded knitting style have caught the attention of Hollywood celebrities and stylists and have been featured in national publications. This need to be remembered, to make a mark, in some way exists in everyone. And Steven?s legacy will live on in every knitter he inspires to create something new and try something different. Every time you take a chance on the unexpected, there?s a little bit of StevenBe in that decision. |
