Fiber Friday: Latvian Braids (Zoom)

Wondering how to make those fancy horizontal braids you see on knitting sweaters, hats and cowls? My Choose Your Own Path Hat pattern features these lovely braids so let’s take the mystery out of the process and learn how to do two color Latvian Braids. 

A lesson on Cori’s 2-color cast-on is also included in this hands-on skill building class where participants start a hat and receive the pattern as part of class.

HOMEWORK AND PATTERN WILL BE SENT ON SIGN UP.

During class we will have time to work on TWO hats that include great braid techniques: 

• Choose Your Own Path Hat (Latvian Braid) (US Size 8 or 9 (5 mm or 5.5mm) 16” circular needle used)

• We will learn the 2-color cast on as a separate technique toward the end of the class.

MATERIALS:

• 2 or 3 skeins/balls of yarn in different colors (contrasting 1 light and 1 dark) worsted weight yarn

• 50 gram scraps/leftovers work fine 

• One extra 16-inch circular needles (US Size 6 or 7 or 8)
