Instructional handout

Materials list - please gather these supplies prior to class and bring them with you!

Scissors - largish and sharp
2 colors of worsted wt wool yarn, at least 2 ply - (2-ply is best because of strength.  More than 2-ply gets a little bulky and hard to make smooth stitches)

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Students will need to have fine motor skills, ability to hold a tapestry needle tightly and some experience with yarn.
Instructor: Mary Balzer
Instructor Bio: Mary has been weaving and playing with the fiber arts for 30 years and is still having fun. Coiling is a technique that incorporates her love of vessels and circles, perfect metaphors for the circles of life in which we all go round, one way or another. She has exhibited her vessels in CO, NM, FL, and WA galleries, as well as national basketry shows, and has been teaching the coiling technique since 1995.
