Watermark 4-day KAL Finale with Marie Greene

This 4-day knitalong is open July 1-4, 2026!

Come join us for the 10^th annual – and final – 4-day knit-along with Marie Greene of Olive Knits.  This year marks the 10^th anniversary of this July KAL, with the initial challenge of “Can I make a sweater in 4 days?” to “Choose Your Own Adventure!” with the Watermark cardigan or pullover designed by Marie.

2026 marks ten years for the 4 Day Knit-along, an exuberant annual knitting event that has brought thousands of knitters -- from around the world -- together for the month of July. Despite the name, the knit-along has never really been about knitting a whole sweater in 4 days.  What it’s really about is discovering for yourself that knitting a sweater doesn’t have to take a year. Or even a few months.

Why “Watermark”?  The very first 4-Day KAL was for a sweater called Stillwater, and Marie thought it would be fun to circle back to the idea of water and leave our “mark” with Watermark!  Curious about the first 9 years?  How many have you done?  Ready to start your first?  Here’s the full collection of this past decade of summertime fun:

PATTERN

The 4-Day KAL:  Choose Your Own Adventure:  This year’s pattern features top-down, raglan construction with all-over lace details.  Personalize your project with your choice of three sleeve length options (short, half, long). You can even spice it up with contrast trim, if you like!  The result will be a classic sweater that you’ll wear for years to come.

Preorder your pattern now!  The pattern is available now through June 27^th for $10.95 (and is $12.95 thereafter).  Select either the Watermark Pullover or the Watermark Cardigan.  The preorder includes size, yarn, and swatching details to help you get ready.  We can help you get your patterns – just give us a call!

Select short sleeves, mid-length, or full-length sleeves, and find you size and yarn requirements in your swatching details information.

YARN

Select your yarn – light DK – wool, cashmere, cotton, linen, flexible!  Pick your favorite yarn in your favorite color.  The patterns are sized from Small through 6XL, and yardage requirements range from 825 to 1527 yards of DK yarn.  Our LYS Staff recommends these options for you:

TOOLS & SWATCHING

Gather your tools: Sizes 3 (neckline and ribbing) and 5 (body) circular needles, stitch markers, tapestry needle, and some waste yarn (for holding sleeve stitches).

Prepare your swatch.  When you preorder, you will get swatching information, gauge, measurements, stitch definitions, and the lace instructions.

Cast on July 1^st and enjoy the fun! Don’t stress about the 4-day challenge – just enjoy the fun of making a beautiful lace sweater for your summertime wardrobe. (However, if you really like a challenge, the 4-day mark is achievable!
