Fixing Mistakes with Ann Budd via ZOOM!
December 3, 2021

Too often knitting comes to a screeching halt (usually late at night) when we find mistakes that we’re unable to correct. In this class, Ann will demonstrate fixing common mistakes, including stitch mount, ripping out, picking up single and a series of dropped stitches (including edge stitches), and reversing the direction of a cable or correcting a mistake in a lace pattern several rows below the needles.

This is a Live One Time Zoom event at 6pm Eastern, 5pm Central, 4pm Mountain, 3pm Pacific

Your ZOOM Link will be sent the evening before and about 1 hour before the event. Check your spam filter if you do not see it.

Sweater Seaming with Ann Budd VIA ZOOM!
December 10, 2021

Because they’re not comfortable sewing seams, many knitters only knit seamless sweaters from the top down. What many don’t realize is that seams can be a sweater’s best friend. They provide stability against stretching (especially across the shoulders and back neck) and they help encourage the body to hang straight. In this 90 minute online class, Ann Budd will demonstrate the three basic seams used for joining sweater pieces—back, front(s), and sleeves. You’ll learn the Invisible Horizontal Seam (for shoulders), the Invisible Vertical Seam (for side and sleeve seams), and the Vertical to Horizontal Seam (for attaching sleeve caps to armholes).

This is a Live One Time Zoom event at 6pm Eastern, 5pm Central, 4pm Mountain, 3pm Pacific

Your ZOOM Link will be sent the evening before and about 1 hour before the event. Check your spam filter if you do not see it.

Adjusting for a Different Gauge than Specified with Ann Budd via ZOOM
December 17, 2021

What do you do when you absolutely cannot match the gauge specified in a pattern? In this one-hour online class, Ann Budd will guide you through adjusting a pattern to work for *your* gauge. Sometimes this means adjusting the numbers in the pattern and sometimes it means simply following the instructions for a different size. It’s all a matter of simple math and ratios that Ann will demystify. A handout of how to use a conversion factor will be provided.

This is a Live, One Time Zoom Event at 6 eastern, 5 Central, 4 Mountain, 3 Pacific

Your ZOOM Link will be sent the evening before and about 1 hour before the event. Check your spam filter if you do not see it.

How it Works

"The class worked really well over Zoom. Stephanie did a great job of demonstrating the techniques needed, and had two cameras going so we could see her face and her hands while she was teaching. It was nice to interact with the other class members, too." - Cheryl A.

About Online Classes with Longmont Yarn Shoppe

We have identified a number of classes that lend themselves to being offered in a virtual classroom via Zoom.

Our teachers are very knowledgeable and experienced in the topic they are teaching, and will be using 2 cameras so you can not only see and hear them, they can also demonstrate what they are teaching as well.  Supplies must be shipped in advance of the class so please plan accordingly.  Check out our handy tip sheet for using Zoom.

We recommend all students use a device larger than a phone to be able to see what is being taught.

We stand behind our programs. If you try online learning and decide it isn’t a fit, we will refund 100% of your class fee, or it can be transferred to an in-store class once we are open to the public again.

We do ask that you use yarn and products from LYS for our Knit/Crochet-A-Longs and our classes.

There are 2 reasons for this:

  1.   We recommend yarn we know you will have success with. Learning a new skill is much more rewarding using the proper tools and resources. When students use materials other than what is suggested we can't assure your success.
  2.   Frankly, we exist only with your support. We need our community to shop with us so we can be here for the long haul. We bring in additional inventory to support classes, in anticipation of student purchases.
