Ladderback Jacquard with Jennifer Miller via ZOOM
September 2, 2022

f you have trouble with stranded colorwork - it’s too tight, not flexible, catches on fingers or jewelry, or generally just doesn’t look good or feel comfortable, this is the class for you! Ladderback jacquard stranding, originally developed & used for machine knitting, is a version of double-knitting with only a one-stitch column. This technique can used in the round or flat! It is particularly useful for motifs in which a single color is carried more than an inch, or when you need a stretchy, flexible garment such as a hat or cowl. This technique is easy to learn & apply to any stranded colorwork pattern!

This is the perfect jumping off point for other stranded colorwork with long floats. for example Passerine Hat and the Baa-ble Hat

This class meets at 6 Eastern, 5 Central, 4 Mountain and 3 Pacific for 2 hours.

Your ZOOM Link will be sent the evening before and about 1 hour before the event. Check your spam filter if you do not see it.

Fixing Mistakes with Ann Budd via ZOOM!
September 30, 2022

Too often knitting comes to a screeching halt (usually late at night) when we find mistakes that we’re unable to correct. In this class, Ann will demonstrate fixing common mistakes, including stitch mount, ripping out, picking up single and a series of dropped stitches (including edge stitches), and reversing the direction of a cable or correcting a mistake in a lace pattern several rows below the needles.

An illustrated handout of the various techniques will be provided.

This is a Live One Time Zoom event at 6 Eastern, 5 Central, 4 Mountain, 3 Pacific
This class is recorded and you can access the recording for 1 week after the class.

Your ZOOM Link will be sent the evening before and about 1 hour before the event. Check your spam filter if you do not see it.

How it Works

"The class worked really well over Zoom. Stephanie did a great job of demonstrating the techniques needed, and had two cameras going so we could see her face and her hands while she was teaching. It was nice to interact with the other class members, too." - Cheryl A.

About Online Classes with Longmont Yarn Shoppe

We have identified a number of classes that lend themselves to being offered in a virtual classroom via Zoom.

Knitting Classes and KALs via ZOOM

Crochet Classes and CALs via ZOOM

Tapestry Weaving via ZOOM

Needle Felting Classes via ZOOM

Our teachers are very knowledgeable and experienced in the topic they are teaching, and will be using 2 cameras for all classes (there may not be 2 cameras for KALs and CALS) so you can not only see and hear them, they can also demonstrate what they are teaching as well.  Supplies must be shipped in advance of the class so please plan accordingly.

We recommend all students use a device larger than a phone to be able to see what is being taught.

We stand behind our programs. If you try online learning and decide it isn’t a fit, we will refund 100% of your class fee, or it can be transferred to an in-store class once we are open to the public again.

We do ask that you use yarn and products from LYS for our Knit/Crochet-A-Longs and our classes.

There are 2 reasons for this:

  1.   We recommend yarn we know you will have success with. Learning a new skill is much more rewarding using the proper tools and resources. When students use materials other than what is suggested we can't assure your success.
  2.   Frankly, we exist only with your support. We need our community to shop with us so we can be here for the long haul. We bring in additional inventory to support classes, in anticipation of student purchases.
