Short Rows at FIBER FRIDAYS via Zoom with Bristol Ivy
March 5, 2021

Short rows are a very handy way to add shape to your knitting in both conventional and unexpected ways. Use them to turn a heel on a sock, better tailor a garment to your shape, or add unexpected twists and turns to accessories. In this class we will discuss the mechanics of short rows, try out different short row techniques, and think about when and where to use them.

This is a Live One Time Zoom event at 6 Eastern, 5 Central, 4 Mountain, 3 Pacific

Your ZOOM Link will be sent the evening before and about 1 hour before the event. Check your spam filter if you do not see it.

Knitting Outside the Box FIBER FRIDAYS via ZOOM with Bristol Ivy
March 19, 2021

One of the most interesting and best parts about knitting is the huge variety of patterns available. But where does the inspiration for those patterns come from? In this class we'll talk about different forms of inspiration and different ways about thinking about knitting, and then explore methods and theory to bring those ideas to reality. This is a great class if you are interested in designing, or just want to experiment with all the possibilities knitting has to offer!

How it Works

"The class worked really well over Zoom. Stephanie did a great job of demonstrating the techniques needed, and had two cameras going so we could see her face and her hands while she was teaching. It was nice to interact with the other class members, too." - Cheryl A.

About Online Classes with Longmont Yarn Shoppe

We have identified a number of classes that lend themselves to being offered in a virtual classroom via Zoom.

Our teachers are very knowledgeable and experienced in the topic they are teaching, and will be using 2 cameras so you can not only see and hear them, they can also demonstrate what they are teaching as well.  Supplies must be shipped in advance of the class so please plan accordingly.  Check out our handy tip sheet for using Zoom.

We recommend all students use a device larger than a phone to be able to see what is being taught.

We stand behind our programs. If you try online learning and decide it isn’t a fit, we will refund 100% of your class fee, or it can be transferred to an in-store class once we are open to the public again.

We do ask that you use yarn and products from LYS for our Knit/Crochet-A-Longs and our classes.

There are 2 reasons for this:

  1.   We recommend yarn we know you will have success with. Learning a new skill is much more rewarding using the proper tools and resources. When students use materials other than what is suggested we can't assure your success.
  2.   Frankly, we exist only with your support. We need our community to shop with us so we can be here for the long haul. We bring in additional inventory to support classes, in anticipation of student purchases.
