Little Looms: Easy Weaving with Little Looms Summer 2024
The Medieval period was one of astounding artistry and dazzling designs. Incredible art, architecture, literature, and, of course, textiles came from this time period. For Easy Weaving with Little Looms Summer 2024, we’re taking a trip back to the Middle Ages with an issue full of Medieval-inspired cloth with a modern twist.
In this issue, you’ll find a pin-loom pillow inspired by an Incan tunic, a rigid-heddle runner with weft floats meant to evoke gothic stained glass, and a set of towels fit for a king. There’s also a gorgeous inkle head adornment based on a Persian hair bead. Of course, you can’t have a medieval issue without dragons. In this issue, you’ll find both a sweet pin-loom dragon and a tablet-woven band with dragon motifs.
As wonderful as the projects are, the articles are equally as exciting. Find out how to braid like a Viking as you read about the mysterious history of the lucet, and then follow a tutorial on how to use one to create braids. Learn two different methods for setting up your rigid-heddle loom for weaving krokbragd (it’s easier than you think!). For those wanting a history lesson, Michele Marshall writes about the long history of reusing and repurposing cloth in medieval Europe, while Sun Kim explains how the history of Korea inspired her scarf design for this issue. There’s so much more to this Summer 2024 issue of Easy Weaving with Little Looms—we hope you enjoy this blast from the past!
