Our virtual “field” trips continue…Let’s go “down-under” to visit Jane Slicer-Smith’s studio in Sydney, AU!

Jane’s studio has been described as an Aladdin’s Cave of colour, filled with 120 garments of all shapes and styles. She will share design and styling techniques developed over the years. These tools of the trade are the key to fitting every shape and size in garments from Jackets to Swingcoats. We’ll learn about collar options, special steps to add polish to finishing, hemline and shaping techniques and other design tips to elevate your garments with a professional look and finish. So, pull up a pew and have a gander mate! 


Jane Slicer-Smith has been designing and selling hand knitted garments for over 30 years, subsequently streamlining garment construction whilst achieving highly styled silhouette’s and styles. Jane graduated in the UK with BA in Knitwear design, designed for British and Japanese spinners before starting her label Signatur Handknits.  From her Sydney Studio Jane retails ready-made garments and made to measure garments, as well as customising knitting patterns with the same made to measure additions for knitting kits. In 2009 Jane authored Swing, Swagger, Drape – Knit the Colors of Australia, sharing her construction techniques with designs shaped, styled and sized for everybody. Jane’s YouTube video on knitting mitres features many designs as well as valuable tips and tricks for knitting mitres.
