Honouring History and Iconic Women
Susan has just released her eighth book "Echoes: 24 Modern Knits Inspired by Iconic Women", a very personal theme, in which Susan designs knitwear inspired by women who have had a huge influence on her throughout her life and in short introductory essays, examines their impact on her. Join Susan as she talks about the making of Echoes, sharing insights into its influences and designs. Plus, we'll see all 24 designs in an exclusive online trunk show. Prepare to be inspired and reminded of the special influences that make us who we are!
Susan Crawford is a British knitwear designer, fashion historian and author who is inspired by the stories carried within textiles and the intertwining of history and stitches. Susan is known for her interpretation of vintage knitting patterns and for her recreation of knitwear from the Shetland Museum. Susan has published eight books including A Stitch in Time Volumes 1 & 2, The Vintage Shetland Project, Evolution and has just released her latest book, Echoes, published by Laine Publishing.
Susan also has her own yarn range, using British breed wools which are all hand-dyed by Susan and her daughter, Charlie, in colours inspired by the rural and agricultural landscape surrounding them. Susan lives in Cumbria, North-West England with her husband Gavin, in the 'wool' town of Kendal.
