Elevate Your Knits: The Joy of Beaded Colorwork!
Spend an hour with Jeanette Sloan as she shares how a passion for beaded knitting inspired her to develop the technique featured in her splendid new book, Beaded Colourwork: A Modern Approach To Knitting With Beads.
Jeanette will begin by sharing her fibre journey, before revealing the stories behind each design and the collaborative friendships celebrated throughout the book. She’ll also show you how, with just a bit of forward planning, this addictive technique can elevate the plainest of knits. There’s a beaded colourwork project in every knitter; it’s time to discover yours!
Bio: Jeanette Sloan is a knitwear designer renowned for her joyful colour aesthetic and love of embellishment. Her work expresses a long-held passion for making, and her eye for unusual details reflects her unique persona l style. Jeanette’s designs have appeared in numerous publications, including Modern Daily Knitting’s Field Guide series and Laine magazine, for which she writes a regular column. In 2020, Jeanette developed a Beaded Colourwork Masterclass, which was released as part of Knit Stars Season 6. Her latest book, Beaded Colourwork: A Modern Approach To Knitting With Beads, was published by Laine on January 29th 2026.
Outside of design, Jeanette is also the founder of BIPOC in Fibre, a directory of Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour working in the fibre industry. In 2023, she was awarded the British Empire Medal for services to Knitwear Design and Diversity in the Fibre Arts.
