Join us to hear Laura's tips on the creative process and never leave another finished piece languish in your dresser drawer again!
I’m a designer and the owner of JUL Designs, a company I started in 2007 in a basement, like so many other creative businesses. I was trained as an anthropologist and did my PhD field research in Bali, Indonesia on contemporary aspects of Balinese culture. It is this relationship to Bali that ultimately led to my more than a decade-long collaboration with Agus, my Balinese co-designer and creative partner, and my close relationships with the exceptionally skilled artisans who execute our original knitwear jewelry designs. I design and make the leather accessories in the JUL line here in the United States.
I have been a maker, a designer, and an artist since I was a child and am passionate about building a personal aesthetic in my own making and assisting others to extend their creative processes to include styling for form and function using the unique accessories we create at JUL.
