The drop spindle was the first kind of spindle ever invented.  It was especially useful as a traveling spindle for when you're spinning on the go!

A beautifully finished hardwood drop spindle with a 4-1/2" whorl, 12" spindle weighing 5oz.

Any fiber can be spun on a drop spindle, each requiring subtle technique differences. Especially useful for spinning roving and wool for felting. Made of natural wood.
