Handspun Hope Ethiopian Cotton
This lovely cotton yarn is laboriously handspun on a drop spindle in Ethiopia by women working for a small cooperative comprised of single mothers. A single skein of yarn requires approximately 736 yards of handspun yarn.
The yarn is then imported into Rwanda where the ladies of Handspun Hope complete the process of dyeing it organically, using cosmos petals, in the single-ply. Once the yarn is dry, the spinners then ply the yarn with spinning wheels into a two-ply yarn.
Due to the characteristics of this naturally hand-dyed yarn, actual color may vary between skeins. We recommend alternating skeins during knitting. #fairtradeyarn #rwandayarn #africayarn #umutuku #handspunhope

The Women of Handspun Hope
Currently, 209 widowed or otherwise formerly marginalized women are part of the Handspun Hope family. Each woman is respected and welcomed as a sister with a unique healing and transformation journey before her.
Many of our ladies are caring for four to ten children, all of whom are directly impacted by their mother’s job. Through the meaningful work provided through Handspun Hope, 626 Rwandans are directly impacted with education, family healthcare, nutrition, housing and spiritual nourishment.
