Marled Cotton Sport by Handspun Hope

Marled Cotton Sport by Handspun Hope

This lovely marled cotton yarn is laboriously handspun on a drop spindle in Ethiopia by women working for a small cooperative comprised of single mothers. A single skein of yarn resulting in 368 yards requires approximately 736 yards of singly ply handspun yarn.

The yarn is then imported into Rwanda where the ladies of Handspun Hope complete the process of dyeing it organically in a single-ply. Once the yarn is dry, the spinners then ply the yarn with spinning wheels into a two-ply yarn.

Due to the characteristics of this naturally hand-dyed yarn, actual color may vary between skeins. We recommend alternating skeins during knitting.

Handspun Hope is a sustainable artisan brand committed to ethically sourced materials and that have minimal impact on the environment.
